an ustaz came by this evening and gave a short tazkirah. yeah, we have that once in a while where my whole family gathers, plus my uncles n aunties n cousins. anyways, this story really caught my attention.
during the time of Nabi Musa a.s, firaun killed every single newly born baby boy from the bani israel, for the fear of being taken over. however, two was spared. one was prophet Musa a.s himself, who was put into a box which was flown down the Nile river, and was saved by firaun's wife, Asiyah. he was brought up by them, in the palace of firaun himself.
then there was this other boy, who was left in the jungle, known as As-Samiri. he was raised by the angel Jibrail himself, who fed him and cared for him.
after the Bani Israel were saved by Nabi Musa from firaun (they were treated as slaves by firaun) Musa was called upon to receive the Taurah, and left his people with his brother Harun a.s for 40 days. and it was during this time when As-Samiri led them astray, where he told the people that Nabi Musa forgot that their God was actually a calf. The people believed and worshiped it....
when Musa a.s got back and asked him why did he do so, As-Samiri answered that his inner self suggested him to do so.
my point is that Nabi Musa a.s was raised in the palace of his own enemy, and as-Samiri raised by the most respected angel Jibrail. yet at the end of the day, As-Samiri was the one who led the Bani Israel astray
Ya Allah, you have given me such wonderful parents, such wonderful teachers in my life. Please Ya Allah, do not let me out of Your Sight, do not leave me without Your Hidayah, do no let me make my own judgements, my own decisions without the guidance of Islam.
