kesian?

after a loong break from my "cooking lessons", it was back on today.

and to my joy, it was tomyam on the menu. plus mixed vege and ayam masak kicap (not fried). i've never cooked tom yam in yemen. wait, maybe we did, but of course it wasnt the original thai recipe, which the taste is waaay different.

good for me, the cooking turned out right. lol. obviously it wasnt me alone cooking. i was just assisting. anyways, i think it was the first time i really really really enjoyed "my cooking". makan baaanyaaaakkkk ^^_

sitting by the dining table after finished eating,

i went like "mmmmm.... sedap..... bes, bes."
kakak: eee. ade ke puji diri
me: bukannya puji the cooking. org kate bes je tomyam sedap
nela: tak... tak.... MASUK BAKUL ANGKAT SENDIRI
me: hah? (dengan muka yang blur gile)

n yes, it turned out to be a proverb. how on earth am i supposed to know??

me: heheh. nape tak basuh baju sidai sendiri je? =p
kakak: ish. teruknye BM awak. peribahasa tu pun tak tau. sian anak awak nanti. awak nak ajar die camne?

ahar. tu laaa.... bm igcse level budak darjah 6. pastu tak sempat amek LAN bm. cemaneee la nak tau all those kinds of proverb..... stakat katak di bawah tempurung boleh laaaa.... **wink

well, cant blame anybody is one thing, how to solve it is another. er, camne? amek LAN? bila? katne? em, kawin dgn sasterawan? ^_^ herr... tak boleh tak boleh. org yg skema sikit je dah kne kutuk. (even though my own BM can be real skema at times. lol)

or senang cerite tak yah kesah je? hemm.... tak boleh jugak. tak boleh jugak. something must be done. ye laaa..... being a malay living all my life in malaysia, whose malay is very very bad is -um- unacceptable?

so, baca buku je la yang paling senang kot........ any recommendations on good books that can enhance my malay?

I still can't believe you don't know that peribahasa! ^^;

(...Okay okay not making you feel any better, heheh. =P)

Anyway, aside from books (which, I really have no suggestions to give you since I'm not much of a buku-BM-reader), just... do what you just did, talk in BM. :) Then you'll probably come across more stuff you don't understand, and, aside from the slight embarrassment of admitting you don't know, you'll learn!

P.S. Basuh baju memangla kena sidai sendiri. =_= Kalau masuk bakul it's kinda unusual (not to mention physically impossible) to lift it on your own. xD

On second thought, you probably speak BM most of the time already, so... second suggestion -- talk to your sisters more? ;P Hahaha. And people with great BM, none of the silly KL slangs I keep hearing nowadays... =\

lol. talk to my sisters more? well, i reckon i do learn that way, but maybe the process is a bit too slow? coz it's not like mosts times i talk to them i learn new proverb or malay words. i need a more effective way...

haha. wait. i dint actually think it meant that i myself masuk the bakul and angkat the bakul myself. i imagined ppl carrying bakuls back from the sungai after they had done the laundry. that's the reason i suddenly came up with the basuh baju thing

OMG. lambatnye pickup =X i feel so stupid!! i couldnt even grab the most logical sensible "scene"!! **blegh

elf!!! u knew what it meant??????? aisyo. now i feel even more stupid #_#

em, skema is when ppl speak the "old" malay. like u know, using ancient words. but take note. it's not referring to those who use proper grammar...
