but alas, they were helicopters, rescue helicopters, not fighter jets.
i first found out about the landslide when my bro called in asking whether i was at home. he arrived in m'sia late night yesterday, now at his in-laws' place and he must have heard the news. a few friends called in and texted, but i was clueless to where exactly the landslide was.
i went over to a. mimi's house. lola and the kids where there. lola told me that it happened near her apartment, a few houses away from the masjid. i was dumbstuck. how could a landslide possibly occur there?? the place looked "safe". i expected those on the higher grounds being affected. but i was totally wrong. 15 houses were buried.
ambulance sirens can be continuously heard. i wonder how are the families coping. thousands are being stranded in the housing areas located deeper in bkt antarabangsa. the one and only road out was blocked with hundrends of meters of thick soil.
may this tragedy be a reminder to all of us. may it bring us closer to Him in facing this test.
