rise and shine

i was reading 'Life is an Open Secret' some hours ago. this was what i read:

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Dont go back to sleep.

everybody agrees this right?

But i asked myself. is it always better to wake up earlier? yesterday i woke up at 6am. today i woke up at 5am. but i really feel that i managed to finish more work yesterday than today. so it doesnt make a difference as long as you're awake before dawn?

then it struck me. take a look at this table. (its from the 7 habits for highly effective people)

yes. i woke up a bit later yesterday. but it was how i started my day made all the difference.

i started my day with doing the quadrant 1 stuff. they're the stuff with datelines, last minute preparations for scheduled activities, pressing problems (last one N/A. to me. at least for now)

guess what i did today? i started with reading a book, facebook-ing and chatting with my sis. i started real work only around 10 30.

but my output at 10 30 wasnt as great as yesterday. and i'm guessing it was because i missed the "morning breeze". quadrant 1 stuff always need more concentration, more thinking, more brain squeezing, so the morning breeze would really do good to it :)

why? coz once you've 'la-la-la' around the whole morning, its makes it harder to concentrate on the 'serious business'. you'd just want to 'la-la-la' more.

oh. fyi. the 7 habits writer suggested that we should spend most of the time in doing Quadrant 2 activities. quadrant 1 stuff is there usually because we procrastinate in doing quadrant 2 stuff (and he also says that its always more stressful in dealing box 1). procrastination: a very very very bad habit that is very very very hard to get rid of.

so? start your day early by doing the riGht things. soon you'll solve your procrastination problem ^^_
